Default Turn signal relay clicks in double-time

Well, after 4.5 years, I finally had a bulb burn out on my S.

It was either here in these pages, or possibly in the owner's manual, where I read that this would be the result, but now I've confirmed it.

The turn signal was clicking quickly. I walked around the car and saw that my rear taillight turn signal was not flashing.

$2 later, all fixed. In my MY02, to pop the felt off that lines the trunk, you have to push the middle pins in the two plastic fasteners down a notch, then remove them. Don't just yank them out! Then, later, you can reset the pin by sliding it up and then inserting the fastener into the hole. Gently push the pin down so it's flush, which locks it into place again.

The taillight assembly connector is standard fare... Twist it a quarter turn and slide it out. Replacing the bulb is also cake.

It just went bad. That's when the relay started clicking double-time.

These bulbs don't last forever. 4.5 years is pretty good.

I couldn't see any problem with the filament when I removed the yellow bulb. Normally, a burned out bulb is just that. Maybe the wire jarred loose somewhere else. Anyway, $2 at my auto part store for a new bulb.

(thank goodness it wasn't the HID!)

I'm sorry Chaz, I have no idea how he got out of his room.

Saki, get back to the Carolinas.

I think you're obviously using your turn signals way too much. My car's almost 7 years old and my turn signal bulbs are just fine.

You need to move down here. We just use the turn signals as a declaration of intent, not a courtesy.

Seriously, it's good to know it's not that hard to change. Why didn't you take pictures?

OK, Saki. I got it now!!!

Mike, it's all about turning!!! I guess you're right; I'm old school and I signal! Well, I didn't think to take pix. I've changed many of these things over the years in different cars so it didn't occur to me. If anyone needs to do this, just PM me and maybe I'll go take some pix.
