Good point!

Howie, I owe you an apology for being so snooty last light.

I meant no disrespect.

Sorry to wander off topic, but here's some documentation about the lack of value of screensavers.

http://www.screenshack.com/custom.html

This page specializes in screensavers and say, "Screen technology has advanced to the point where screensavers are not really necessary for protection. Over the years however companies have come to realise the value of the screensaver as an advertising medium."

It is my understanding that older, monochrome screens had a more persistent phosphor. These gave sharp, non-flickering images at lower refresh rates but had some memory so screen savers helped. However, with our faster phosphors and higher refresh rates on color monitors, screen savers save nothing. I do have 12 year old monochrome monitors at my office with no screensavers and no burned phosphors.

Silver, I agree with you. Why not be able to turn the radio off with the same button that turned it on???

I also like to turn off all the accessories when I park the car.

Interesting that Honda made a change to the aux. control functionality. If Honda follows their trend, future production may have aux. power off.

My screensaver at work serves two functions:

Password protects the system

Shows a great sequence of S2000's!

I agree there is no benefit to the monitor, but I enjoy looking at my car

I use my screensaver at work. I have it set so that if theres no movement for 2 mins the monitor goes black. Thats so when I leave my desk people who look in dont get to see I'm really at this site instead of doing work.

Barry...The one that gets me is people taking pics from the nosebleed seats at concerts. Flash would have to put out the incredible candle power to light that stage from 200 feet away. Inverse square law for sure.

I still say, why wear out the on/off button. Leave it on!

Nobody is serious whey they suggest WEAR AND TEAR on the buttons and switches?

Maybe if you grew up buying domestics with AC Delco radios.

However, I DO have legitimate beefs with the stereo operation:

1) MUTE should act like a PAUSE for the CD player (I hate not picking up from exactly where I left off with a track)

2) MUTE doesn't STAY MUTED. I usually leave the radio on when I turn off the car, and when I get back in, its a reflex now to quickly stab the MUTE button so that I can hear how cleanly the car starts from cold -- but when you release the ignition button, the radio comes back on UN-MUTED. Reflex stab #2...

It could come standard with an AC Delco deck and I'd be just as happy with the car, but since the topic was getting a thorough airing...

I think all powered accessories (radio, AC, etc.) are bypassed temporarily when you start the car, thereby removing any additional strain on the battery. The only car I ever owned where you actually had to turn off the radio was an Audi 5000S. When you turned off the ignition the radio would continue to function unless you switched it off.
