Called another dealer today in my plight of msrp s2k searching. One dealer said "They probably wont make a 2002, so if you don't buy now you'll regret it". HA! Another one also said that if i did wait for the 2002, i'd never get a 2002 for msrp anytime soon. Probably true. No one knew anything about the features either. Of course the dealer who said they are discontinuing the s2k as of the end of 2001, did get down to $1k over msrp for the yellow i'm looking for.

I hate salesmen.

Sounds about right... I had 2 salesmen (actually the Sales manager and a salesman) tell me they were the only dealer selling at MSRP in the area... When I had talked with 3 others in the past 2 days selling at MSRP (wrong color of course).

Anything for a sale. I can't blame them, given the $3000-4000 they make on an S2K sale.

There have been SO many threads on this. You'll either have to bite the bullet or be willing to travel to get MSRP or lower. As my signature states I'm in Florida & I started shopping seriously in January. When did I want the car, July or August. I found a couple of dealers within driving distance, one coming OFF MSRP $436 & the other $400 for an order or **$1100** for in stock units. I ended up ordering from my local dealer at MSRP. These two dealers were in Alabama. I did find a dealer in south GA & Pensacola willing to go MSRP as well. MSRP is out there you just have to be patient & persistant. My suggestion would be to e-mail all the dealers you'd be willing to do business with (travel to) & go from there. Seems I have read MSRP posts about a dealer in Vegas & Wyoming. You WILL get frustrated but keep shopping & you'll find a fair deal. Again they do exist. Best of luck!

 

I had no problems what-so-ever finding MSRP -- I was actually kinda worried after reading all of the horror stories. The only color I wanted to check out that I wasn't able to find was white -- but then I decided I didn't want red interior.

Be patient and continue to make calls -- you will find what you want at the right price. Good luck!

 

Shouldn't be a problem getting a car at MSRP, even in So. California. I've seen S2Ks sitting ready for sale, some with the standard Honda add-ons, some without. I drove 1 hour to save $8,000 for a new 2001. The round trip was 2 hours, $8,000 saved, $4,000/hr. Probably worth it...

 

Come to Connecticut no problem at MSRP. Check Torrington Honda, Courtney Honda, Curtis Ryan etc. You have to bargain, and you may have to wait, but they are available. I got mine at MSRP no unwanted options, and I had another on order at MSRP. I saw an add for Courtney in the paper the other day saying he had 3 on the floor at a discount for Meomorial Day. However he has been forcing all the options on buyers in the past. Good luck
