Default Ugh, don't search for S2000s on Craigslist...

Horrific photos of filthy cars, terrible grammar, lack of basic and important information, faded paint that looks pastel (wax people), poorly painted and plasti dipped this and that, hideous body modifications, dusty engines that look like they've been in a sandstorm, ripped up interiors, wheels that would probably fit trucks better, etc. You name it.

What is wrong with people? It irks the hell out of me to see this happen to such exceptional cars. Idiots!

OK, venting over.

Hahah I know the feeling. I intially went that route when looking for mine and it was heartbreaking to see so many poor examples out there. I would say a solid 80% or more of s2000's I've seen just aren't taken care of or have horrible and tasteless mods. It's really a shame to see such an amazing car live without getting any love.

That's how I got mine! Guy was asking 14k got it for 10k, although I'm still in the process of fixing all the mistakes! Little by little it's looking like a proper S again! Just be prepared to look at a lot crap to find your diamond in the rough.

I found mine off craigslist from a smaller car lot. Although I had to sift through many "AWESOME CONDITION!"~beat up, "FLAWLESS"~scratched/dented, cars. Maybe I was just lucky enough to find one quick enough to not have it be a burden

Yeah I saw this one on craigslist in Hawaii. It stated flawless exterior and interior. If you just glance at the pictures. The Car is so dirty. Rims are painted black. (ap1) and it has a huge crack in the front bumper. The soft top is gray and he has the nerve to say EXCELLENT exterior? selling for 13.5k about 90k miles i dont remember.

Haha, I always see the same thing on CL when I search S2000. It is pretty amazing how people treat them. To each their own, but if you trying to sell it.... Clean it!!

One nice thing about shopping for cars like the S2K, Miata, Corvette, etc. in the upper midwest is that the cars are less likely to have been used (and abused) as DDs. The lack of detailing on CL cars is probably because it's free & easy to post the for-sale ad. I used to sell cars on Autotrader back in the day when I had to drive to an Autotrader office for them to take pics of the car to put in the magazine that your bought at the gas station.
