Trying to distance yourself from Uncle Joey, eh?
Just remember: You can take the man out of Massapequa but you can't take Massapequa out of the man!
This thread actually has some merit.....
I imagine it as if I was an enthusiast but not an owner....this thread could have given me quite an amount of insight.
I would know what to look for when I test drove, and see if I could deal with it.
I for one drive the majority of time outside of the VTEC range, and can see where THRILLR was coming from in his orginal post (although, I don't agree with why he wants more torque, 1/4-miling :rolleyes). But like I said earlier, I can deal with it....and don't really care what others think of the car......just keep in mind all those that bought and drove their Ford Pintos and Novas proudly.

I don't know why noone has recomended this but I would look at the Porsche Boxster S with 260 BHP and lots of torque (can't remember exact figures) plus the build quality is there as well as the handling. Since the engine is a 3.2L there is no issue with having to drop down a gear to accelerate. That would be my second choice to the S2K since it just doesn't excite as much as my car but is an awesome car either way.

The current Boxster S has 250bhp. The revised (and uglified if you ask me) 2003 Boxster S will have 258bhp.
The Boxster S is a beautiful car, no doubt, just be prepared to bring your wallet. It ain't cheap.
I'm no mathmetician, but I've devised this simple formula to calculate the price of a new Boxster S vs. a new S2000. It's been a while since I took Algebra, but here goes:
Honda S2000 X 2 = Boxster S
What do you think?
Ha ha ha. This thread is funny. This is why I don't complain about the S anymore. I have "conformed" to the cult... err I mean group way of thinking... Torque means nothing to us, go on the twisties. Did I get it right this time guys?
well, twisties are great, but i would like to be able to pass cars on the highway without downshifting when i am below 5000rpm, and with the S it feels like an Civic EX, u keep pressing the gas, but its takes awhile for you to move. Mike

I find that, since buying my S, my right arm and left foot have grown new muscles. I look diagonally lopsided. Gosh darn, I hate all that shifting.....
I saw my chiropractor about getting my body back in balance.... His only suggesting was for me to buy a RHD S2000 to build up my left arm.... but I had to explain to him that still wouldn't solve my clutch foot getting so worked out.
Hello !

Good one Thrillr
I have to agree with Mike in one way -- at the end of a track day I do wish the Honda had more ummfff... you do get tired of catching V8-powered cars in the turns and NOT being able to blast by on the straights.
Our car does have certain limits that make one think about a Z06, IMHO.
However, I bet you'll be a little dissapointed with the shifting if you find the Honda's transmission "notchy" and "not fast", Mike. I've driven the C5 too and found the throws to be longer and slower than the S2K's personally.
