Default Update on clutches

It's now time for my second replacement clutch and I'm looking for advice on which one to get. I do some auto-X and as many Time-trials as I can. The first replacement was the stock "upgrade" but I can now feel it slip when I shift into 2nd 'energetically'.

All responses shall be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Pierre

I wound up with a stage 3 Star clutch which is pretty amazing.. it does not slip even when you expect it would. The Star people do clutches for a number of race teams including some Type-R's running the Speedvision series.

There are several threads discussing my install and the fact that Bulletproof has decided to carry the line. Here is one with pics.

Cdelena has an interesting setup.

I went with the ACT Heavy Duty Clutch plate, ACT street disk and TODA flywheel. The setup is excellent, absolutely no slip what so ever. However, you can no longer clutch dump or have 'high RPM' launches... it places too much of a shock onto the drive train. I met Cdelena at TWS and we all compared clutch 'feeling'. His setup is very close to stock feeling (as much as the peddle feel goes) if I remember right. The ACT setup is quite a bit heaver, which I prefer.

Not sure about Dale's clutch, but on mine any hard start will spin the wheels, not the clutch. I have never done high rpm launches but I would guess you would only get wheel spin on my car even with sloppy clutch work.

i'd recommend a set of Spoon clutch cover/disk/flywheel combo.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Spoon disk really just an OE Honda one?

no, it's supposed to have adopted a different, more up-to-date material used by spoon.
