Update on new windscreen prototypes
I checked out the first laser-cut template yesterday and its a beautiful and very precisely formed shape, with perfect curves.
Following the consensus of this board, I've lowered the height about 1/2 inch, which shortens the ears on both sides about 1 inches. My guess is that this will be enought to permit the full-size screen to function as I had originally hoped: mounted in reverse so that it folds forward so that the hidden compartment cover can be opened with the roof up. I'll have the Lexan prototype in a few days to try out, I hope, on Sam's car. Sam, are you listening? We'll post many more pictures showing how it will function and conduct additional road tests.
Once we're we have all the final details and costs worked out, Mingster and I will be collaborating on the final offering of windscreen products using both the stock assembly and Mingster's original design.

No, it is not a deep cut, just enough to turn the plastic a milky white to provide contrast with the clear.
Yes, the logo will be an option (or no option if we don't get Honda's permission to use it.

Hi Rick
Do I understand correctly that the windscreen will fold forward? Do you think that in the event of a front impact, the windscreen might fold forward? Do you think there might be a safety issue here?

2x6spds,
Minimal, if any. If we use the forward-folding mount, small rubber bumpers will have to be glued or otherwise attached to the hoops to prevent the screen from being pushed down by wind pressure (our tests in Sam's car confirmed this need), so they will prevent it from folding foward in an accident. Plus, even when folded fully forward they would not strike any part of your body.
But we'll checking and double-checking all of these assumptions once we have the Lexan prototype to test.

The big concern would be a frontal impact causing the unit to fold forward and possibly cut through something on the way towards the front of the car. As long as the roll hoops stop it's forward progress, I think your in good shape.
