Upgrade OEM S2000 HID
I was driving on the freeway with my buddy and saw this new bimmer 330ci with bright blue-ish HID. That
thing was totally bright and I can just tell that is not factory OEM HID. I know those cars come with HID...
then my buddy told me that thing is a Stage II upgrade HID 'cuz his friend has it also. What he means
by Stage II is just chaning the bulbs out to some other kinds of bulbs.
I am wondering if I can do the same to my S2000 as I want the different look and brighter lighting
What type of bulbs does S2000 have? D2R or D2S? How many "K" is the bulbs? 4300K?
Any commets are appreciated.

Your oem's are 4300K which I think is the brightest you can get, anything higher would just be color. If you where to put a 6000k bulb which I think would be very blue. Your headlights would not have the sparkling green, blue and purple effect that it currently produces. Instead it would be a very constant blue light that would just stay just blue/purple. I would just stick with stock.

not to mention that the OEM s2000 HID bulb is its own type of bulb, meaning any aftermarket kit you buy is going to have be custom fitted into the housing with silicone or whatever, you cant just change the bulbs you have to get new ballast and everything........................................ ..... 6000k or 8000k would look pretty dope though

I wonder if anyone here knows what the true purpose of HID is. It is supposed to light up the road better and create better visibility. If you change it to 6000k or higher, it makes the light change colors from bright white to a less effective blueish/purple color. Aside from being ticketed for having illegally blue lights, it takes away the visibility that the stock HID's provided. So in a sense, you're spending money on downgrading your stock units to produce less reflective light just to have that cool blue colored light. Keep it stock..
