They are pulling your leg - it is, in fact an authentic Mugen header.

I think they all rust after enough time unless you have them coated.

Does anyone know why the mount on the header for the header bracket that connects to the lower engine block breaks? It broke on my Mugen header too, similar to this one.

I heard a rattle for a while and thought it was the heatshield (that cracked too), looked under the car and saw a crack in the mount. I bent the bracket away from the header to stop the rattle, and figured I'd pull it off later. Went to do it the next day and the header bracket was gone! I guess the bending weakened the metal, and it fell off.
