sparki2,

thanks for the insight into the future market of the s2k. i personally didn't purchase this car as an investment. of course the value will drop with mileage and time. I'll bet that the car will hold its value reasonably well, but im not hoping for much since its a sports car. if or when i sell the car, i will have many years of smileage behind me and no regrets. best of luck with your vette and possible purchase of a rapidly depreciating s2k.

Sorry if you thik I was steeping on pride and joy - i am not - just saying the day of dealers over charging is over and I doubt the used market will be that great for a car as powerful as this.

Everything devalues over time. However, despite your denials, you seem to have an ax to grind over the S2K. Perhaps you should just let it out. You'll feel better. I, too, am puzzled why you would troll over a car you don't own and have no interest in. The claim that used ones are going for $4-$5 had me laughing out loud. For what it's worth, I bought used (3500 miles) and paid a very good, but fair price, for my 2002. I gave very little thought to it's resale. I kid you not that I've returned from rides to nowhere with my face hurting from smiling, laughing, screaming and singing so much.

New S2K: $32,800 MSRP
Used S2k: $25k-30k
Painful Face: Priceless

I suggest you revisit the reasons folks buy a car like the S2K. It's not image. It's not comfort. It's not practical. It's not to be the fastest gunslinger in town. It's the smile factor. That sort of happiness won't go out of style anytime soon and there will always be a high demand for fun.

I bought mine with 15,000 miles on it, and paid $28,000 + T&L instead of $35,000 for a brand new one. No problems.

$28K for a used car? Hmmmm....

$35K for a new S2000? Wha?

Sounds like a wifey won't let him spend over $30K, but wants her to think he made a good buy.

Sound about right? You can't fool us

My local dealer wanted to sell me a used s2000 REAL BAD over a new one. They know they'll sell the new one. The 1my-old used one was the same price as the new one. But they promised a longer warranty. I suppose there are a few people who would jump on the longer warranty. Not me, I have more peace of mind and owner's pride knowing I had the car from day 1.
