Default Used s2k pricing help

Hi all. I'm new to the forums and looking hard at a Certified 2004 s2k with 21k miles. It's a one owner and comes with the associated CPO warranties. Sticker's $22,800 and I was wondering what kind of deal you all think can be had for something like this. I'm in the Cincinnati area if it makes a difference. TIA.

that is way too much. i just bought a brand new leftover 07' for 26,500 not too far from you. i would not pay over 20k for that 04, even if it was perfect.

I saw the thread about the deals at Immke and was impressed. Still, 27k is too rich for my blood not to mention insurance costs. Has anyone picked up an 04-05 with comparable mileage? What kind of price has been paid?

I was dealing on a trade in for an 05 with 16K for 20,988. That was sticker. We didn't even get to the negotiation table

Well, I would say 20-22k would be the range for it. As for Rodney, you just got an awesome deal for your 07 and it's hard to base it on that. You basically stole that from them.

Thats a decent price for an 04, plus it being CPO. S2000 used pricing is kind of odd - new S2000s are selling for about $4-5k off MSRP, and the early S2000s have leveled off around $11k for average mileage, causing the rest of the model years to hover at incrementally higher levels. The used market is really compressed now between $15-24k among most years.

That said, used AP2s can be hard to find as there are fewer of them, and they will not depreciate like a new S will. The one you are looking at has low miles - it looks like a good deal. Of course, if you can get a brand new S for $5k more when its actual value is $10k more, you'd have built in depreciation, which can save you on the long run.

I's aim for $20k OTD...make sure they factor in tax. I purchased my '05 with 16,xxx miles last November for $21,000. I felt that was a good deal then. The price of s2ks may be increasing due to seasonal demand as teh weather will be clearing up in a another month. I'd aim for $20k otd, if you wait into the spring prices will probably go up. You should also be more flexible on location, it shouldn't be out of the question to fly somewhere and drive one back if you can save several thousand.

FYI,

I picked up one of the Immke cars. I was working on a 2006 Laguna Blue CPO, 7500 miles, until I found Immke. The car is in Paducah, KY, Bluegrass Honda. We got to $22,500 fairly quickly. I tried pushing a few times lower, but to no avail. It has been sitting at Bluegrass several weeks and was for sale in TN for 3 months at another dealer, they obviously got tired of waiting and auctioned.

At the time, felt it was a good deal, as good as I had come across anyway. However, despite being a CPO, I still would have spent some money to have it checked out, tires were OK, but obviously, not new. Front right inner black fender was coming off, needed the screws/plugs. About a 5-6 inch scratch, also on the right front fender, by the S2000 logo. Otherwise appearance was very good. Top in great shape, all numbers match (that I could find easily anyway).

Not perfect logic but I figured $23,500 for used brought up to comparable to new (fresh service and tires) vs. $26,500 for new. I opted for new but admit the $3,000 would be nice to have in my pocket. Also, they had 3.9 or 4.9% financing on used Hondas. Everyone will have their own personal idea of what used versus new is worth to them and of course, different budgets. Had I not found Immke, I suspect I would have taken this deal and been happy.

Ridiculous (high) prices on CPO Honda cars. I was looking for a 2007 SI Sedan, and saw a 2006 SI coupe for sale there. It was used, and they wanted more money for it. The claim is that the CPO process is worth more to the customer than getting a new car. That's complete BS to me, considering that most of the time they probably don't really inspect the car.

It's the warranty that is worth more, not the inspections.

100,000 miles vs 30K. Ten years from date of manufacture instead of three years. And there is a bumper to bumper warranty that is at least what you get on a new Honda.

Not sure how much a comparable extended warranty on a new S2K from Honda runs, though.

You can't get a new S2000 away from our local dealer for under 30K, which probably explains why they tend to sit on the lot and end up shipping to other dealerships.
