Gads! Something must be wrong w/my car. I only had to add about a half quart after 1500 mis. Now it has 3900+ miles and is still still at the full mark after that initial top off. I'll have it towed immediately to the dealer for an engine replacement under warranty.

Cdelena,

My point exactly. I bought mine used, but all this "special break-in oil" mumbo-jumbo smacks of "cover your ass". If the "break-in oil" with "eye of newt" or whatever is essential for 7500 miles, then isn't Honda screwing anyone who gets a short-block replacement, either warranty or not, if the dealer doesn't install the special oil?

Either the "break-in oil" is bunk, or several owners have cause for action since they got screwed by the lack of the special oil in their replaced short-blocks.

Personally, I think the former.

Don't go there again. They might end up doing more harm than good. Since this "using oil" issue is fairly common, I would top it off and just keep checking it at every fillup. For me, my oil consumption is directly related to high-RPM driving (aka VTEC->Redline).

Cdelena,

Thanks for the information. I never thought about the issue of little warranty complaints as a factor in the first recommended oil change interval.
