noticed it flashing at me after I started the car before the commute home.... after flashing for a bit it turns off.

Has this happen to anyone here? Car seems to be running great.

It just means you are close to an oil change (or it wasn't reset last time the oil was changed). The closer you get to 7500 miles after the last reset the longer it will stay on.

There is a faq on reseting the light.

 

That's wier, man... That just happened to me today! Just hit 6000 miles and it started doing it. I went by the dealership and the guy said EXACTLY what Y2K++S2K said. I scheduled an appointment for next tues, but I'm gonna bug him and see if he can fit me in friday since I drive 120mi a day, I don't want to chance it!

 

was is the CHECK ENGINE or MAINT REQ light? MAINT REQ, not a big deal; CHECK ENGINE, don't drive it anymore and take it in to the dealer to have the code read....

 

What Sondra said. And deadpedal don't sweat it since the light comes on way in advance to give you plenty of time to schedule the appointment.

 

Ah, maintanence required light... whew. Car just clicked over 6k on the odo.... thanks for informing someone too lazy to look it up in the manual.

 

Yes - Maint Req'd light... Loki, you have an 01? mine started right before 6000mi (like 5993) Maybe this is a preset time? Cool...

Me too, came on right around 6k miles. Still on at 6600.

 

Change the oil and reset it.
