Default V-AFC Dyno Results

Alright well, I finally decided to get my v-AFC dynoed and tuned today. The temperature was extremely cold (it was raining). Because of the cold temperatures, the dyno has a program that compensates and adjusts for the cold temps ... the tuner told me that his dyno tends to over compensate when it's set to do so when cold, which is why my overall numbers are VERY low compared to other people's dynos without the compensation. The important thing here is to look at the difference in numbers, not how high the numbers are (since they're low).

Dynorun base --> Max POWER= 180.3 Max TORQUE= 128.3

Dynorun.007 ---> Max POWER = 198.8 Max Torque=133.2.

As you can see, the difference the V-afc made is considerable ... and if it wasn't for the computer over compensating for the extremely cold temps, I would have achieved some decent high numbers as well. I've only dynoed by car one other time than today and back then when my car was stock, it registered close to 200 hp's (I know the conditions were different, but these are just ballpark figures anyway). So I'd say an extra 18-19 hp's is well worth my time and money. All-in-all, I'm pretty darn happy about the V-afc. If any of you guys would like to see the actual dyno sheet, let me know and I'll go take a digital pic of it tomorrow or something.

The vtec engagement point was unchanged after experiments at higher and lower points. It seems like the original vtec point is the best one.

BTW, the RM racing exhaust was sounding like something out of hell ... It was amazing how good it sounded with the acoustics of the tuning area. Another customer almost pissed in his pants when he heard my baby powering up to 9,000 rpms!

I think you'll find that if you set VTEC at 5600 and tune from there... you'll get better results.

I think the tuner tried from about 5600, but there seemed to be a dip in the power curve for some reason somewhere when he did that, so he just moved it back up to the original point. Although, getting like 20 hp's would have been even better.

If you go below 5600 RPM's you will definitely take a hit but I think if Pepe is still around he'll confirm that 5600 RPM's turned out to be optimal for them as well (in addition to the 2 other S2000's (NA) that my mechanic tuned).

How did you install it? Did you splice the wires to your ECU or did you get a harness?
I can't wait to get one.
Thanks,

I didn't do it myself. But the controller was spliced in. Didn't want to wait for the harness. My warranty is a few miles away from being up anyway.

When I have the time, I'll go take it in for more tuning and perhaps try at 5600 and see what that gives me.

Well, my warranty is over 96,000 miles away so I kind of need to wait for the harness. Do you have any idea of when it is coming out, who is coming out with it and how much it will cost?
Thanks,
-Brandon

Set vtec to 5600? Isn't that really close to the stock vtec engagement? What is stocks vtec low->high?
