Mine is visor mounted.
Power is hardwired and is tucked along the windshield frame.

I mount the main unit on the windshield to the right of the rear view mirror. I intentionally mounted it there so I can easily remove it upon parking or to use with my motorcycles. Plus, I feel it gets good vision fore and aft. I also run the concealed display, which I have mounted on the steering column.

It's a fairly easy job, you don't need a professional. Here's a link to the DIY.

I installed mine last week, it only takes about 10 minutes. All you need to do is replace the male spade connector with a female on the hot lead of the barrel shaped module. Then you connect the hot lead to the third accessory lead in the fuse box. It's easier to do than it is to describe. Do a search for "valentine" in the electronics forum.

I just went to the V-1 website to see about upgrades, and for $285, they'll swap my 11-year-old unit for a new one - not bad!
