Default Valet Key

Does anyone know if the valet key will make the engine turn off after a certain distance? Also, do the s2k keys have chips in them?

Thanks.

All S2000 year models have had an immobilizer chip in the key.

I believe that is true only in certain domestic markets in the world, such as USDM. Some parts of the world do not get the immobilizer.

i dont know about the rest of the guys here but my valet key both turns on and turns off my car from a distance. if you lost your valet key you can go aftermarket and get an engine starter but why do that when honda gives you one for free?

Whoa, this is the first time I've ever heard of this ability -- but what do you mean by "turns on and turns off my car"? My MY2000 valet key would only unlock the doors and turn on the ignition, when physically inserted into the key holes, never from a distance.

this tread is a little confusing but i think the original post is trying to ask if the valet key will only allow you to drive a certain amount of miles before the car turns off. i dont know that answer. and all usdm s2k have the immob.

^^^^ Right, i was asking if after a certain amount of driving the car turns off. I know some cars have this for theft reasons. I called honda and they told me this is not the case with the s2k valet key. The only thing the valet key does not do is, open the glove compartment and trunk.

Thanks for the help guys/girls.
