Default Valve stem caps necessity

I lost 2 valve stem caps and decided to throw the rest away as well (you know, for balance). I find it makes checking tire pressure and filling up a lot easier.

Is it a "bad idea" to drive daily without valve stem caps? Do they have any functionality besides making the tires look better?

Keeps the tire valves clean which will prevent them from getting dirt in the seals and eventually developing a slow leak. Also a good metal cap with an o-ring seal will actually prevent a leaky valve from being a problem at all.

I agree with CRG. Also, if debris gets into the stem, couldn't it be forced into the tire the next time you need to add air? I would think that's not something you would want as a trade-off for saving the few seconds it takes to remove/replace the caps at fillups.

I think you should remove all of the wheels :
no wheels = no tyres = no valves = no valve stems = no caps to get stolen + no flat tyres.
