Vancouver, BC's S2000s... @ MSRP?

I've heard that the S2000s in Vancouver are selling for or even a little below MSRP.

Now, are there any differences between the US and Canadian versions of this car?

And would there be any other advantages other than the MSRP price / no transport necessary to the deal?

Canadians only have red, black, and silver available, and also have running daytime lights.

yeah we Vancouver people are lucky enough to get S2000 @MSRP, but I've never heard of anyone getting the car below MSRP. There're few used ones selling at very low price through. Jay Li is right we can only get silver, black and red, but my friend told me there're actually few yellow driving on the street now.

My dealer has both red, black and silver cars (red interiors avail in the latter two) in the dealership right now for MSRP $48,000 CDN plus $850 PDI. The only difference between US destination cars and the ones coming here where mentioned above plus bilingual labeling under hood, etc. Yellow available shortly if not already...

Honda Canada and American Honda don't like cars being shipped to the US from here but there is no law against it (I've heard that Canadian buyers have to sign a waiver stating they won't sell South for at least 6 months)

Can you give me the contact info for the dealers in vancouver bc selling at msrp? i'll use you as a reference so if you get money out of it, i'd be happy to let them know who led me over.

how much is 48,000cDN in us dollars? how much of a transaction fee is there for a US buyer to acquire the canadian model?

any way to disable the daytime action? is daytime in HIDs?

Redone is right. American dealers complained about people going into Canada and purchasing cars there that they make it as difficult as possible. While you would get back the GST tax you will not get back the provincial tax which I believe is 10%. Also you have to prove to Customs that the car meets DOT and EPA requirements which can be difficult to do. It often requires a letter from the company (Canadian Honda) and they may not want to give it to you. And when you try to register the car in WA they require an original certificate of origin which can be another pain in the butt.

My cost for an S2000:

$32,740 + $400 (dealer markup) + 8.6% tax + $150 licensing + $1800 (closed transport delivery from TX) = approximately $38K.

How much less would it be for me to get one in vancouver, BC considering some of the hurdles. my mom actually bought a yellow xterra recently that is a canadian model, but she bought it from a dealer who brought it down from canada.

Provided that you could get one into the U.S., you might be able to save some money because of the exchange rate. You need to find out what dealers are selling them for there. Our Canadian members might help us with that. I purchased a van there in 1994 and ended saving over $3000

Hey SpaceNeedle,

In Alberta we do not have provincial tax (7% in BC). I'm also pretty sure that as a US resident you are GST exempted, or you may get that back (another 7%). Check with Canadian consulate regarding GST return claim. So basically you could buy here at MSRP CND$48,000 plus air-conditioning tax $100, tire Levy $20, Administration fee $119. But, as mentioned on other posts you may have problems registering the car in the US. If you wish I'll get you in touch with a local Dealer.
