Vehicle inspections - worth it?
Hi folks, have done a quick search and can't see an obvious thread on this.
Assuming S2K shopping this weekend yields a reasonable candidate or two, is it worth having AA, RAC, DEKRA or similar do one of their car checks?
In days gone by, they used to be heavily discounted for members, and it was a no brainer to shell out a few quid to highlight any possible issues. They just seem a lot dearer now, and it's less clear whether they actually cover anything useful.
Anyone had one recently and thought it was just pee-ing money away, or gone "whew, missed out on a dog there..."
Cheers

If you feel comfortable going over it yourself, great. Otherwise hire someone to do it.
One advantage of a commercial inspection is that they will often give you a repair cost estimate for any problems they find which you can then use to negotiate the price.
