From my large window, to the left, I can see the Pacific Ocean and on a clear day, Catalina Island, a bit to the right, a large field that runs right up to the back of Road & Track's Monrovia St. cute 2 story building and parking lot. I've seen a lot of great cars in that lot, and recently, a red S2000, a yellow S Type Boxster, and a silver Audi TT.

I was thinking about installing my Rick Hessel console cover (even though I was going to wait until I have the seat belt and tranny warranty work done) wandering over to R&T in my black S2K and letting them check out the interior and Spoon lower front x brace upgrade.

What do you think? Should I wait to have the warranty work done and not risk damaging the console cover by removal and reapplication by Honda techs tearing my car apart, or should I let R&T get a look?

imo you should wait.
it's not worth the trouble of having it marred by a careless technician.

IMO, I don't think Road & Track will be the slightest bit interested in taking photo shots of the interior, with add-ons. They may admire what you've done, but I doubt it they have the freedom to report on anything other than "standard" test cars. (Presumably, the red S2K is one of these.)

I'd like to think you could generate some nice publicity for your S2K, but I just don't believe it will happen, unfortunately. (If you decide to take a drive over to R&T, I'll wish you luck anyway.)

They might just be interested, after all, the Rick Hessel signature interior makes the stock S2000 interior look like a Civic DX in comparison. The spoon makes it much stiffer. Who knows?

If you want to do this, I can provide some additional double-sided tape, so you can mount the cover for the R&T visit, then take it off before the tranny work.

Let me know.

Maybe the angle for R&T is how accessories for a car like this are developed by team work among owners, using the web. It might be a story they'd be interested in.

At they very least, the damned fools (I read R&T, but dislike the way the thing is edited, and have for the 30 years I've read it) should regularly publish the URLs for all the enthusiast web sites so that we could attract more S2K owners to this board (only a fraction are members).

OK, Rick! Please prepare a second serving of that special tape. I'll try to have it installed later today and give them a holler and drop by tomorrow.

Rick,

Just out of curiosity why didn't you use velcro (which would engage with the carpet) instead of double sided tape?

Bieg, I was thinking the same thing the other day and went out and bought some velcro to prepare for when I receive my cover. I'm hoping it will work and that Rick did it as a cost issue. Then again Velcro isn't that expensive. Maybe it has to do with the holding power of the adhesive on the tape.

When I was installing my amp I considered using velcro to secure it to the carpet (just for testing purposes). The vecro hooks would not hold to the carpet at all.
