Default vtec?

I know enough about how vtec mor or less works, but i was curious to know about the use of it. Like does it wear down over time if you use it too much, and can it become less effective if it does in fact wear down, my car is brand new so im not realy worried now, but just curious, o and if it will wear down, what can be done to prevtent it besides the obvious answer of dont use it so much....which is hard, and would be no fun

Thanks

Dave

I think it would hurt the engine if you didn't VTEC enough

VTEC itself won't wear, but it most likely puts a tremendous strain on the engine. Keep an eye on every aspect of the engine oil if you're that worried. VTEC opperates on oil pressure.
I also hear that if you try to hold a certain engine speed while in vtec (Unless you're doing a top speed run) you can mess something up.

Hope I helped...

I've been told that if you VTEC too much, you go blind.

I don't think so.

For people who are into autoX, track, mountain driving, we always have to hold a certain engine speed while in Vtec. I noticed it would burn oil that way (after an afternoon of aggressive mountain driving, mostly done in the upper part of 2nd gear Vtec, and lower part of 3rd gear Vtec ( 50 -70mph))
