Thanks.

I have been the real CAI freak on this board for a number of years, because I actually believe that the stock intake is a "design defect" on the s2k. Well, I've got that problem cured to my satisfaction, and was simply wondering if a VTEC Controller would be a cost-efficient and non damaging addition.

Thanks,
Richard

Well said! Having cured the "fresh air" problem, I was merely curious as to whether a VTEC Controller would be worthwhile and do no harm. I know there is a lot of "snake oil" out there as far as mods are concerned. Judging by the responses so far, it sounds as if a VTEC Controller can do harm if set too aggressively. Then there is the worrisome issue of whether I would know how to use it properly, that has been raised in these responses. As I said, I have no intent of trying to make this car into something it isn't. Never an economically sound move! Better just to buy another car that suits. Again, I just had such good results with the AUT CAI and radiator plate (Sponsored group buys on this board), along with some cheap mods, that I was just wondering if a VTEC Controller would give me good "bang for the buck" also. I was looking for responses that would say "heck yes, it makes the car go like the hammers of hell" but have received none. If none materialize, I'll decline.

Thanks,
Richard

Richard,
here's the skinny on the vtec controller.

-yes it will do you some good but only if you have mods to support it such as an exhaust system or an intake system that brings in more air.

-on a dyno i was able to get an additional 10hp just by tuning my VAFC.

-you won't be able to tune the vafc yourself. take it to a dyno shop and have them tune it.
