Vtec Controller
I have had my S for a while, got a couple of things into, magnaflow dual exhaust, Test pipe, Spoon ETD, Cusco Cooling plate. But I have always wanted a Vtec Controller. I dont know what to get and where to get it from. To tell you much I kinda dont know what it really does, i know that you can set the vtec higher or lower w.e to your prefence.
What are the goods and bads about having one? What should it be set at? Where do i get one and which brand do i go with? what are the price ranges? Are their controllers that have multi-funtion? And where should i take it to get installed, or can i do it myself?(i can get around mechanics, was an assitant tech for 2 years)
Post them up here. I would really like to get one really soon, preferably by homecoming
thanks,
Anleth

I've always heard that it's probably not a good idea to use these. I think it's a really cool concept don't get me wrong, but the car is set to utilize that higher/longer profile when the dynamic conditions are exactly right. This means that there is sufficient air flow into and out of the cylinders. Changing the set point for Vtec means you're engaging at a different rpm and a different (lower) cylinder speed. This could potentially cause loss of power because you just don't have the dynamic properties for the Vtec cam profile.
Just my understanding, maybe someone else can shed some light on this to either verify or suggest something different.
Honda engineers I'm sure have investigated extremely with different Vtec engagement points. The engine has been said to be tuned to it's fullest. Considering this a not a "mod", i.e I/H/E, I can't see it being beneficial in any way.

Also I think the ECU acts as the VTEC controller, so the OP is really looking to upgrade the ECU. This isn't cheap though and will require a dyno tune.
Yes this is what i have heard and it does make sense, because they have tuned it to its fullest.
But also if you do upgrades on like the manifold and headers then it should be consider then ?
