I bought the mugen ECU a few weeks ago, and i don't noticed that it don't modify the VTEC engagement point.
I read in the mugen documentation that they changed the VTEC, but of course, i don't know what (it's in japonese)...
So ,what is it exactly ?

Hello All-

The Mugen ECU does not change the VTEC crossover point or the rev limiter. Both are set to stock specs.

Feel free to contact us anytime 262-593-2800 or email tech-staff@kingmotorsports.com if you have any questions.

Cheers!

I thought it was the stook itself that lightens your bank account... maybe it is the savings account that is tapped this time

Actually, I've heard that the only thing a Mugen ECU does on the S2K is remove some overly aggressive timing retard when the intake air temperatures are high. Everything else remains the same as the stock ECU.

Hello Again-

The Mugen ECU also has optimized fuel and ignition curves for better throttle response and performance throughout the powerband, especially in the mid-range....

Cheers!

I received this reply from King Motorsports a month or so ago, a little more detailed than Scott's (thanks for the post Scott).

"Thank you for your email. We have the Mugen ECU in stock for your S2000. It
is a complete plug-in installation. It remaps both the fuel and ignition
curves, but the VTEC actuation and stock rev limit are retained.
The Mugen ECU eliminates the 0BD2 function. It will not code and not care if
the second 02 sensor is missing. Also the Mugen ECU will not retard the
ignition timing when air intake temp and coolant temps rise. The stock temp
gauge is VERY vague! You would be surprised how much temperature fluctuation
the S2000 has, all while maintaining 3 bars on the gauge. It's scary! This
is why ANY chassis dyno info is irrelevant with the stock ECU. The stock ECU
will retard the timing when any of the operating parameters are not EXACTLY
matched. The Mugen ECU is programmed not to do this. You will immediately
notice crisper throttle response and better torque and HP THROUGHOUT the rev
range. We also recommend the Mugen low-temp thermostat and hi-pressure
radiator cap when using the Mugen ECU. We have all these parts in stock."

Ha, your name wasn't on the email - and it came from a generic info address. Interesting how your past self just help your present self explain something, via someone else.
