Default VTEC Question

I've only owned my S for 3 weeks its an 2003 with 26000 miles recently past couple days have felt... different!
1st gear-strong pick up and vtec kicks in and feels like sex
2nd gear- revs hard and fast all the way up to 9K but the revs all the way up feel consistent (no jolt from VTEC)
3rd gear- feels good and slight bump from VTEC going to fast to notice

I need input thoughts suggestions i don't know if its in my head or something

PS-again second gear doesn't feel weak at all however no JOLT

Do you mean that the vtec crossover in each gear in progressively softer? You'll feel 1st the most because 1st gear has the most leverage against the car. Totally normal.

i thought it's because after you shift, you don't actually drop out of VTEC, because the VTEC disengage point is lower than the engage point, which is around 5800-6000 rpm.

edit: or do you mean you tried to rev through each gear from below vtec engagement?

I will start 2nd gear at like 4000 rpm and it feels strong all the way through but no noticeable difference around 6500 or so.

Just take a look at how quickly the car revs from 5K to 9K in first gear, versus other gears.

Besides, I wouldn't want the jolt to exist in 2nd gear when I'm already going at 60+km/h there. I don't think it's quite safe ...

first gear has the most mechanical advantage so your car feels stronger.

that and as speed picks up you feel less and less difference.

its normal.

ps. i like second gear pulls from like 2k to redline. cause you really hear the difference

Can you still clearly hear the VTEC engage at around 6200 rpm?

That's what a transmission with multiple gears does.

First gear will always be the most intense because it's multiplying the most torque. Turbo boost also seems to come on stronger in lower gears. Same for VTEC changeover.
