Default VTEC in the S2000

I recently purchased an S2000. My previous car was a turbo single cam Civic which ran a lot faster than an S2000, which means that VTEC was hardly noticeable. On the dual cam motors (i.e. b16a, b18c, etc.), the VTEC seemed to be fairly noticeable. However, in my S2000, when VTEC kicks in, I can't really feel much of a kick compared to what a typical B series motor does. Maybe, I'm just not used to the way the S2000 drives and a slower car. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Well I came from a 1998 Prelude Type SH, and I just recently acquired a 2007 S2000. I noticed that the transition to VTEC isn't noticeably different, but you sort of feel it. I know that for the AP1, you can feel VTEC kick it in harder because of the torque curve while with the AP2 you don't feel the transition as much because of the smoother torque curve...

probably because you're coming to a slower car...
when my friend drove my 06 Si he noticed VTEC kick in a lot, but when i drive it it's just a slight change in sound to me.

I guess it is because I'm going to a slower car. I'm just trying to get used to it. I just expected a bit more out of VTEC.

When the car is tuned properly, you should feel less "kick" because the transition to VTEC should be smooth.

Furthermore, as stated before, you're coming from a faster car, so it takes more pull from the car for you to feel a "kick" because you're used to it.

Sometimes I wonder if VTEC is working in my 03 civic because I can never feel it. The change over in the S seems much more obvious to me. The civic is soooo slow though, so the S feels fast after driving my stock civic.

VTEC works differently in different engines - you can wiki it to read more.

when i test drove a 2000 s2k, the vtec transition was very noticeable, whether coming from a faster car or watever the reason, i think you should be able to feel a decent kick so keep an eye out for problems?
