Default wanting a S2000, but can't drive stick shift

have been a fan of S2000 since they came out in 1999. i finally think i'm gonna bite the bullet and get a newly used '07 or '08 model. the thing is i can't drive stick shift. i know the basic terminologies and how things work in a manual car, i've owned an '02 M3 SMG and when i had that i always drove in the manual mode. question here, is S2000 good for stick shift beginners? i would think it shouldn't be that difficult since it's a short throw and Honda makes some of the most forgiving manual shift cars around. anyone wants to chime in? thanks.

Yes. The S2000 is very easy to learn on/drive.

Should be easy to learn on. Just be patient so you don't 'hurt' anything while learning.

One caution. As the shifts are easy to miss- they feel like only a few mm separate 1-3-5 & 2-4-6, I would practice shifting with the engine off to get the feel. And avoid high rev shifting until you know what you are doing.
Missed shifts at high revs = $$$$$.
Good luck

My friend gave me 30 mins of driving his trans am before I got my s two hours later. That took me from knowing almost nothing to being able to drive the S back home for 100 miles to practice later. The point is you might want to find someone that is willing to let you put a few hard miles on there clutch. I filled up my friends tank and bought him lunch so he called it even. It would be easy to misshift and mess things up but dont let that scare you away. Just take it slow.

The S is fairly easy. It's got a decent clutch that is not too hard to feel the engagement point.

It's no civic or anything, but I've taught my ex gf, my current gf and my brother how to drive stick in the S.

I think it's fairly easy, especially in MY08. This was my first manual car too.

I second everything that's been said. Also, once you learn, don't get too comfortable too quickly. Meaning don't get lazy or overconfident, so you avoid grinding gears and missing shifts.

only tricky thing is starting off 1st and your left foot wont feel right letting off the clutch slowly so just focus =] You should be fine though, your S2000 will be happy with a new owner =P

Just take your time and you'll be fine... it's when you start to think faster than your feet/hands that cause the grinding etc. You'll maybe have some rabbit jumping of the car as you get used to the clutch itself but hey, everyone had to start somewhere

Hope you have fun with your new S... mine's off the road again due to the snow returning!!
