Default Warm Console ... cat?

I have noticed since installing the Comptech Supercharger that during hard driving my center console is warm to the touch.

Not so it would burn you or anything (although I think a cup of coffee in the cupholder would stay hot longer). This will probably be nice during cold NJ winters but not great on 100 degree days. Plus - I just want to make sure it's normal.

Am guessing this is the cat getting hotter than in stock due to increased pressure from the SC.

Any of you with the Comptech SC had similar experiences?

You can thank your transmission for that heat. Mine is not S/C'ed but it does the same thing. The transmission is barely inches from you when you sit in the car. There isn't really any insulation between the trans and your coffee.

Same thing here without the SC. I'm going to do an experiment in the next few weeks with some Radiant Paint. I haven't looked yet, but my hope is that without dropping the tanny, I can spray paint the undercarriage with the Radiant Paint to deflect some of the heat.

Will post an update to the board if this works out.

My plan has been to use some of the same type of insulation used in the sun visor dealies that we've cut up to insulate the airbox. Don't know yet if it will work (enough room?), but I'm gonna have a shot at it shortly.

Thanks for the responses. Good to know I'm not alone and it's not SC-related.

I only had about 4000 when I installed the SC and hadn't noticed it prior. Admittedly though I've driven it harder since.

When I let the car sit for 30 min. after long driving, it seems to be hotter, and the shift knob is pretty hot...all from the tranny I presume.

I probably shouldn't admit this, but when I first saw the title of this thread, I had visions of a Persian cat draped over the center console.

Oh, cat-a-ly-tic converter. Duhhh!
