Default Warranty

Just found out by honda and fidelity some info. I have a honda used certified s2k and was asking them some questions. I asked if I would lower the car if that would void the total warranty, and they stated yes. Now how could lowering the car affect all the warranty. Then I asked how about if i change the rims, they said the same thing. they said it would affect the transmission and engine components which would void the warranty. I said fine, how bout a k&n filter on the s2k, they said it depended but it could void the warranty cause its a different airflow than the stock s2k. Are they really joking. Then finally I asked what if I wrapped the stock air box with some insulation to keep the car getting the coldest air, they said it would void it to. I always thought warranties were that if that modified part broke on your car, or had an affect of breaking something else, it would not be covered. But explain this, how does getting bigger rims affect the altenator, or a/c which they said might void warranty. Any Feedback..

fyi...I am a parts manager at a Honda dealership and lowering your car or changing
your wheels will not void any warranty. I acctually have a 2001 civic in my shop now with a blown trans, that is lower, has different wheels, exhaust and other things and he has the extended warranty and they are covering the transmission. We have also fixed other cars under warranty with exhaust and intake work.

if thats what your dealer says, find a new dealer. From what i understand the law says, unless the warranty contract specifically states that your warranty will be voided from aftermarket products, your warranty will stand unless the dealer can prove that the aftermarket parts were the cause of the problem. Sure they can say aftermarket wheels will hurt your engine, but can they prove that is what caused it? doubtful. But on the other side, also consider that to resolve issues over warranty, like getting them to fix a car with aftermarket parts, could possibly take alot of time. Ive read of warranty cases taking up to a year to get resolved because of just going back and forth of "you have to fix my car" "you have aftermarket stuff" "but it didnt cause it" "meh ill do it later." well not exactly that, but they could take time to resolve later. I say find an aftermarket friendly dealer and just go there.
