Hey guys, frequent visitor, first post. I will be getting my silver stook next week. I'm sure some of you saw it on ebay a couple of weeks ago. I actually saw a couple threads about it. My question is about warranty coverage following a collision. I am going to be able to build the car back up and have about 23,000 dollars in it, not bad for a 1,400 mile 2001. I've been dying trying to get one of the cars, and this is the only do-able way that I can currently afford to have one. I know that several of you have sustained some collision damage. Does anyone know how the factory warranty coverage is affected? This car will have a rebuilt title, but none of the damage is to the drivetrain. If anyone could help me about this matter, it will be appreciated. Anyway, it's great to have access to such a great and knowledgeable group of enthusiasts. I look forward to finally getting in the drivers seat of one of these terrific cars.

I think you are referring to a "salvage title".....as such I think your warranty is void as technically the car has been determined to be a total loss. You might try emailing the district manager. Go to American Honda on the Web. Enter the owners section and then customer service. There will be a number for a district manager for your area. He can give you a clear understanding of where the warranty stands.

Good luck......

Sounds good. I'll check out Honda's site. I believe that the status of the title is not salvage as of yet. I ran a carfax report on the VIN and it came out clean. I'm sure it's just an issue of the insurance company processing it, however. So I may be better off to see how the title comes out. I believe in my state there is a difference between a salvage and rebuilt title, however. Thanks for the reply.

I would just go to Honda when I needed warranty work. You simply have a pre-owned S2000 that went through a repair. Let them challenge you if there is a technicality but don't automatically accept the burden of a voided warranty.

That's kindof what I was planning on doing. My only concern is that the VIN is reference whenever the car goes in for work. I'm not sure whether the car will be flagged in Honda's dbase as a total loss. Right now the title is good, but I'm fairly sure it will be classified as salvage. It will be repaired perfectly, but I can see how they would cancel the warranty if insurance totalled it. I'm hoping for the best, however, because warranty definately means alot to me.

No car is ever the same after an acccident and with such low build numbers, many shops will not know how to repair the car properly to begin with. While $23,000 is a great price, it may not be worth it.

Were you going to finance the car as well? A bank may have a problem loaning out money on a salvaged car.

I appreciate the bid of confidence, but I am building the car myself. I've built several cars in the past and I researched this one pretty extensively before getting into it. I will be using all factory parts and replicating factory welds. You are correct about banks, they don't like to loan on wrecked vehicles, but I didn't have to do so for this one. I do think it is worth it for me. I don't plan on making a profit or selling the car, this is a way that I can have the car for roughly $10,000 less.

2boss2 - Good luck with your efforts. Yours is a much more fitting situation than parting the car out. As you probably know there is one S2000 near Chicago that has risen from the ashes and now surpasses its former glory.

Coraldoc

Thanks for the support. I'm not really sure if I know what car you are referring to, I'm assuming yours. Is there a thread on it? If so, how can I search it out?
