Default Washed both of my key fobs

So about 6 months ago I washed one of my key fobs and it quit working. I didn't think much of it because I had my spare. As of today, I now managed to wash my spare key fob as well and neither are working! Any idea on how to get them to come alive again?

Wait, so you washed one of the key fobs and it stopped working? But then you decided to wash your second one too to only wonder why that one isn't working anymore either?

Maybe you got water inside the cover. Did you try letting it dry out and maybe changing the battery? You may have shorted it if you did get water inside.

You don't wash electronic items, I thought that was a given?

Haha, I don't mean like hand wash them. I left the keys in my jeans and threw them into the washing machine without knowing. I got them both to work again. I put a screw driver between the two covers to pry it open. I disassembled the gasket from the chip inside of the key fob and sprayed contact cleaner on the chip; both of the key fobs work again. The contacts were just dirty. Perhaps this can work for those of who whose key fobs are not working as well. Might be worth a try!

This is pretty epic lol. Glad you got them working, they can be pricy to replace.

Let it sit in some uncooked rice overnight, and then try a new battery. I'm going to assume it's a goner though.

He said he got them working. But that is also a good method for electronics that have been soaked
