Anyone have a great product for waxing black? Everything I have tried so far leaves a "greasy" finish that won't polish out. What ever they used at the dealership was awesome, I am going to bug the detailer next time I am by.

Hi

Mine came from the dealer with all the fine scratches that were left by their complimentary car wash with a sandy rag.

I used 3M rubbing compound, and polish, Mothers fine cut scratch remover, anti swirl and carnuba with their Spray Showtime finish. All by hand. Now it's nice.

To both of the black owners,

Can you guys give me a link so I can take a look at your cars? Black on black is a color chicks absolutely dig on a man's ride.

Also, is there a simpler way to make the paint look really nice other than having to buy all those separate bottles?

Gotta say, as a newbie, this place is great! I'm notin' all the products mentioned and can't wait to toss the odd crusty waxin' can...thanks for the help!

Any recommendations for a quick and dirty product to use between full-on-assault wax jobs? "Carnuba with their Spray Showtime finish" sounds interesting, a product name would help...

I have been using "Plexis" plastic polish for the rear window (Works great on the bikes)

Thanks again,

Kevin

Woow used one product, Maguires. I achieved a an apparently slightly lesser result using about a dozen. As for me, except for the 3M products, I mentioned, all the rest are from Mothers.

I think photography is 9/10ths time of day =)

Go for the "Golden Hour" right after sunset and right before dark. Or for those early worms, right before sunrise.

How about swirling the wax or rotary power buffers?? A friend with a cherry 57 Chevy and about the nicest black paint job I've ever seen told me that on dark cars, especially black ones, that to prevent swirling, you should just go back and forth front to back. I realize that swirl marks might not be a big problem, but on that car it would have been. Is there truth to avoiding rotary buffers if you want the absolute best looking wax job...on any colored car?

Take a look at Pinnacle (www.pinnaclewax.com).

They are a little pricey, but the S2K is worth it.
