Default Way to adjust front latches on hardtop?

Just put the hardtop on for the first time and everything seems fairly secure but there’s not much tension with the front latches (like there is when I secure the soft top). Is there a way to adjust them?

The adjustment is done at the rear hardware. Loosen the bolts that attach the side catchers to the body and adjust the hardtop as needed then tighten the bolts back in.

There didn't seem to be much play in the side catchers when I installed them but I will give it a try. Thanks!

You should consider buying hardtop strikers. p/n# 86270-S2a-902

you don't make adjustments via the side catchers... u make the adjustments on the bracket in the hardtop. loosen the 3 bolts on the brackets on the hardtop and align it on the car with the front latches locked first. follow these measurements and tighten the 3 bolts.

I have an ’06. It’s kind of confusing from all the posts but it sounds like anything after ’02 had the same strikers on the original car that would have come with a hardtop. Is this not the case? In other words, these strikers are going to be different than what’s currently in my car? Thanks for the input!

Usually you only need a couple of millimeters to make a difference. If they max out and you need more, then move to the upper latch bolts they are adjustable as well.

As alSpeed2k said, its a good idea to buy the hardtop strikers as well.
