Default WD40 for Debadging?

I already have the fishing wire and someone told me to take off the Goo to use WD40 to get rid of it. Has anyone else done this and did it work ok without damaging the paint?

I did a search and all I found was to use the fishing wire to cut the badge off and use a hairdryer to warm it up a little... but nothing on how to get rid of the Goo. Only that it was a pain in the a$$ to take it off.

Or try "Goo gone".

I would just go and get "goo gone." It is a citrus based detergent so it will easily break down all of the bonding agents. All of the left over residue should come right off.

Goo Gone isn't even that good... I tried to get my sidemarker goo off for weeks with Goo Gone and it took me 2 - 3 hours PER ALPHANUMERIC CHARACTER (S 2000 )

Try 3M rubbing compound. It'll get the entire thing off in minutes.

Oven cleaner also works well. It is about as powerful as you can go without hurting your paint. I use it to remove pin stripes that often run along the sides of cars, like on older ls400's i.e. Feel free to test anything questionable the day before on the inside of your gas cap.

Nah, your paint will be fine as long as you dont leave whatever you are using on the car.

Jewelers trick.....lighter fluid. Ive debadges about 40 cars in my day, and lighter fluid works the best on glue. And no, it wont eat the paint. Use goo gone, and whatever it cant take off, use lighter fluid.

I'm just curious...I wouldn't do it because I think it's too strong, but would Goof-Off hurt the paint? I'm sure it would.

possibly.. but I've never noticed any damage. Just make sure you wash it with soap + water after.

I used some 3M adhesive remover and some floss to get the badges off. They came off without too much of a hassle.

No it wont. Clear coat is a chemical, and is not easily to dissolve. Anything short of acid is harmless to clearcoat.
