Krazik

We will take all precautions necessary to make the day safe.

Greg mis-spoke on the corner worker issue, let's cut him some slack.

I appreciate your concern, but please realize we are in close contact with many organizations that host track events on a regular basis.

As much as you try, you cannot make someone drive within their limits at such an event if they don't want to. People will need to understand that this is not a race and there is no winner or loser.

We are working on the instructors at the moment - we will fill in where they come when we get it nailed down. I am hoping that some of our very own S2000 owners who have race experience will be coming out to act as instructors.

Also, S2KDays did not contain illegal racing. We had tours of the countryside with some spirited driving. S2KDays '02 will have the same thing. There is no racing involved.

I think GT3 is a great place to start. I have the course memorized, as well. Obviously, the most difficult part is the Corkscrew. Coming into it is pretty fast and your car can get a little light as you brake in preparation for it. But the rest of the track is pretty straightforward...but there are a couple of turns that don't have a lot of run-off.

One thing that we will not be tolerating is carelessness. Safety is a number one concern and focus of the entire event and if anyone hotdogs or drives and breaks the rules, they will be pulled off the course. It's a zero tolerance policy...and we are following suit from the NSXCA gathering at Laguna as our example of how a track day should be pulled off. It's one advantage that we have because of the relationship we have the NSXCA. These guys are experts in this field and they are extremely helpful to us in many ways. It's very nice to have such expertly organized events such as the NSXPO and other NSXCA track days to have as our model. This will be how all of our events are handled...

So here are the issues I'm trying to figure out how to work around...

1. 8 hours to Monterey, a day at the track, and 8 hours back is an aweful lot of wear and tear to put on the car in one weekend.
2. 8 hours to Monterey, a day at the track, and 8 hours back is an aweful lot of wear and tear to put on my lower back and my ass!!! (I'm 6'2" and I can't do more than about an hour in my S2000 without pain).
3. Luggage. The trunk isn't big to begin with, but I've made it even smaller with my 10" sub. Yeah, I COULD take it out, but that means 8 hours each way with no reasonable music. And even if I did take it out, my girlfriend packs a lot of crap... so her sh!t wont fit in the trunk even if I do take out the sub.

So the obvious solution is to trailer the car. That would be great if I had a truck and a trailer, but I don't. Heck, if I at least had a truck, I could rent a trailer and it'd be all good.

A friend of a friend has a full 2-car Haulmark rig with an F650 superduty diesel that he uses for his drag car. But he's a friend of a friend, so that's a very long shot at best.

Any suggestions? Someone suggested I FedEx my sh!t... which isn't a bad idea, provided the package arrives on time

Any other ideas?

I am in! I live here in Salinas. It would be stupid not to go. If you need any help, please let us know.

Any leads on a group buy for track rims and tires?

Reverend, you're on the wrong side of the mountain (from the Pacific) or I'd say I could pack your stuff on my trailer. Just not willing to detour from the coast on my way to the track.

If you take out the spare, remove the tool kit holder, and roll the tool kit components into a towel, that creates a lot more space in the trunk. Just carry a tire inflater and hope that nothing really serious happens to your tires.

Why are you insisting on driving up and back the same day? Save your sheckels (?) and treat your lady friend to a mini-vacation at Asilomar or elsewhere, then drive back the next day refreshed.

Or leave the lady at home and stack your stuff on the passenger seat.

Just go, man.
