Weapon-R Input
I'm thinkin' about gettin' the Weapon - R intake and am just wondering what some peoples opinions are on it. I don't have a ton of money to spend so I thought it seemed like a good choice...read up on it a bit, and I like that I don't have to worry about Hydrolock...Was also considering the AEM V2 but got worried when I heard some horror stories....
thanks
thanks
The AEM is one of the few intakes that has been proven to make significant gains for the S2K it has excellent build quality and performance. As for hydrolock that is really dependant on how intellegently you drive. See a small lake in front of you... dont drive through it. You can also get a bypass valve to help avoid the issue.

The bypass valve isn't worth it because it also takes away some of the minor gains in performance that you'll get from the intake.
Look. You shouldn't be worried about hydrolock unless you are driving through 12 inches of standing water. And if you're driving through 12 inches of standing water, you're an idiot.
I had an AEM CAI on my ITR, and in Florida it rains a lot in the summer. And at times, the streets will flood and there will be areas of standing water anywhere from a couple inches to 8 inches (or more in certain places). I NEVER had a problem, and I've driven through 6-8 inches of standing water. However, I wouldn't drive through "lakes" of standing water that was even higher than that because you're asking for trouble.
Weapon-R sucks. You're better off just putting a K&N filter in the stock box than wasting your money on that crap.
Go with the AEM and don't be stupid when it comes to standing water.
Besides, you're not going to get a whole lot of performance with an intake. You might get cool sound, but not much in gains, no matter how many people tell you that "such and such intake" is "dyno-proven" to give x-amount of horsepower. It's all a bunch of

Weapon-R makes pretty intakes and they have being in the market since I can remember, and as far as I can remember they suck ass.
I agree with just getting the K&N filter in the stock box and you will be far better IMO.
P.S. If you get the Weapon-R send me the sticker to put it in my beater.
