Default Weight loss for my s2000

Any experience and/or ideas on getting some the weight of an s2k? For example, anybody know how much weight can be saved by stripping out sound deadening? Going to a carbon fiber hood/trunk lid? etc.?

Thanks for any replies!

What is it? 10 lbs for sound deadining? 5-10 lbs for CF hood? Go to the gym!

You'd lose more weight if you took out the spare/tools, took out the convertible top and motor and replaced it with a light hardtop, swap out stock exhaust for aftermarket single exhaust, and going on a diet.

A "dry" carbon hood such as C-West's will save you around 10 pounds. Stock seats are pretty heavy (around 40 pounds a piece, I think). Try some carbon/kevlar joints like Spoon's if you can find any (they are around 7 kg.) or Memory Fab Seats if the name brand thing doesn't bother you. They weigh around the same as spoon and are carbon fiber. A quick search on honda-tech.com should find those. And, of course, as others have said, spare tire and tools weigh quite a bit if you're not scared of getting stuck with a flat. Light weight wheels and brakes will net you a decent gain (think Volks or Spoon, anything forged and small like 16 inchers).

After these is when stuff starts costing a lot. Think ASM or C-west carbon body parts. I think C-West's carbon doors are around 3 or 4 kg, but mega-expensive. What's your budget?

There's tons more. Almost everything can be removed or lightened in some fashion. Replacing stock parts with lighter parts can get costly though.

Yeah. If you're ready to start replacing doors and stuff, it might be cheaper to just get an 1,800 lb Elise...

This is interesting. wilwood 4 piston brakes save 30lbs off front. Volk 16" Ce28's weigh 11 lbs F and 11.5 lbs R a wheel. Weighed at wheel place(I forgot the name).

replacing your exhaust system is the easiest way to lose some weight. I set of 17inch Volk CE28N's will reduce weight where you want it most. Also different Coilover kits (Zeal S6's) have been known to lose weight. As for the Dry Carbon hood saving you 10 lbs, uhh... I don't even think our stock hood weighs 10 pounds.

Slightly off topic (weight reduction on a Sentra) but an amusing read anyway.
