Thumbs up Weird thing under the hood.

Ive only had the car for 2 weeks and I went to check my oil today for the first time and noticed the rod to hold the hood up was sawed in half... Anyone know why the previous owner might have done this? Maybe some heavy mods under the hood or something?

I have no idea. Maybe if there was some type of carbon fiber intake on there that they removed before selling the car. There may have been rubbing or some other type of interfetance.

I'm not sure how the rod attaches, but look in the for sale section, maybe you can buy one from someone who is parting out a wrecked car.

There was someone (may have been local in the PacNW forum) that was selling a kit to get rid of the rod, might be something to look at instead of replacing the OEM version.

Thanks ^ but im not really interested in spending money on it, im really not under my hood enough to care. The length its at actually fits in a hole on the hood and holds it up fine. Im more interested in why someone would do that, does any FI setups require you to cut the rod?

That is strange. The rod can be removed in 10 seconds so not sure why they didn't take that option and install dampers.

How high is the hood when the rod is propping it up? Pics?

I've never heard of anyone cutting the rod but you never know.

I wonder how many people on here know there's a second position for that rod that puts your hood almost straight up?

If you're going where I think you're going with this, I'm going to laugh my ass off when the pics come in.
