weird valentine one issue
Here is test for you fellow s2krs with V1s. Drive down the road, preferably at a speed higher than the posted limit and try to adjust your side view mirrors.
p.s. make sure no one is behind you! he he

My valentine one falses laser every time I adjust the power side view mirrors. The first time I did this I was on the highway speeding and it about made me poop my pants. Then after my heartbeat returned to normal I tried to adjust them again and I thought I was clocked with laser again... WTF! After I looked everywhere for a cop with none in sight I adjusted some more and it falsed again this time with me instantly nowing what was going on. I felt pretty stupid.
I recently took a long trip with a friend who drives a 2000 lude sh and I brought the V1 for some protection and we tried it in his car and it does the same thing! I was just wondering if it was just my detector or if you guys could repeat this with yours too.

On my car I ran the power wires cross the top of the wind shield frame and down the left A pillar to the fuse box, not sure what fuse though. On my friends lude I used the cig cord that comes with the unit. I guess its just the way mine is tuned. I have a good understanding of how most electronics operate and why but this on has me wondering.

To those having this problem, how old is your V1? When I got my V1, around '94, there was some sort of issue with the V1 not working well with Honda charging systems (Honda charging systems, at least in the late 80's to mid 90's, were very efficient but allowed wild swings in voltage from what I'm told).
When I got my V1, it would false laser almost constantly in my '89 CRX. I called up Valentine and asked them and they said they were aware of the problem and working on a fix. They called me up several weeks later and said they had a fix. I shipped them my detector and they fixed it free and sent it back.
So I suppose, if your detector is an older model and hasn't had an update then it could be suffering from a similar problem.

Clark is right,
In case if other members of this board do not know, If you have an older version of V1, you can always send it in for upgrade. Mine is 94 or 95 version and was totally upgraded two years ago. You can just call and give them your Serial number and they will tell you if there is an upgrade for your V1 or not. Great service, but pricey for sure.
