Default Welcome new sponsor -- The Tire Rack

I am pleased to announce that The Tire Rack, the number one source of tires for our beloved S2000's, has joined as a major sponsor of S2000 International. The Tire Rack and shown from day one great interest in the S2000 and that continues today. Please visit the new Tires and Wheels forum which they have graciously provided. I have been assured that their expertise on this topic will be prominent and available.

Excellent. Should we see if Conner can have an S2000 only page created for our S02 non-Pole Position likes? =D

Will there be special discounts and/or group buys on tires and/or rims?

Highly doubtful. They have done this sponsorship gig with other boards such as VWVortex and i-club, and have never offered a discount or group buy to anyone.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. It is a strategy for them to try and corner the enthusiast market, and while I am happy for the income to the website, I think that in general those wheel and tire forums that they sponsor have actually degraded in the usefulness of information posted on them. They have become more of a "can Tirerack quote a price on these wheels for me" kind of thing, rather than a useful forum for the sharing of knowledge.

Since there has never been a wheel and tire forum on this site, things will obviously be different.

Still, I have very mixed feelings about this. Make no mistake, this is a cheap and easy way for Tirerack to bolster its business.

I've bought many tires from Tire Rack. Always been satisfied with their service and prices.

First off, I think they owe the board. Glad to see they think so too. Secondly, I'm hoping that the TR forum will be an opportunity for them to reprise their former role as a place where enthusiasts can get technical information and opinions. This is no longer the case from the regular sales department. Third, if the forum is bogus, none of us will frequent it.

I don't see a downside.
