Well, I test drove one . . .
And it just freaking rocked. I totally loved it. From the cocoon-like fit to the awesome shifter, to the heavy-weight steering, this car just felt like a great sports car. Reminded me solidity-wise of a 944, or an RX-7. Solid was the word, and solid is what I like. Very nice job Honda did on the chassis design. The suspension was nice and stiff, as well, which is the way I like it, steering transitions were instantaneous. So, the steering, chassis and suspension was very impressive. Only slight niggle would be a touch more feedback in the steering, but it was still really, really good.
The engine delivered sufficient torque at low revs for my tastes. I certainly didn't find any glaring faults there. Now, above 6k rpm, the engine note went all demented and the car wagged on its line a little as VTEC kicked in. On this car, it wasn't a huge surge, but rather a sharpening of power and response. I never felt like I was being thrown back in my seat, but the car seemed to accelerate hard. For a 2.0l, this thing is unbelievable. I liked the engine, but probably need more seat time to recalibrate to its power delivery.
A couple of dislikes: 1) On this used 2000 that I drove, the plastic window was clouded and creased pretty badly. 2) The steering wheel doesn't adjust and I would have liked it about an inch higher. Oh well, I guess you can't have everything.
Anyways, I'm off to the dealer on Monday to put down a deposit on a 2002 black on black baby. I can hardly wait. I think my soul has been stirred. An amazing car, to say the least.

I think I can speak for all of us owners in saying congratulations on a wise decision of purchasing an S2000. I was totally thrilled when I went for my test drive. When I picked it up, I just couldn't belive what I had gotten. I love this car. Honda did an unbelieveable job with the design and production of this car. Remember, if you're getting a MY2002, it will have a glass rear window. Although, with the help of this site, I was able to find products to help me keep the plastic rear window clear. Good luck.
I don't own one, but I can say from seat time (passenger seat time, that is) that this car touched me in ways no other car has. I envy every single person that owns an S2000, as I want one so badly...
Congratulations, and my recommendation is to follow the advice of every black paint owner on the site: polish it 5 times a day

I have just come back from my 1st test drive of the S 2000. Amazing, Insane, Thrilling, are some of the printable one-syllable words I used to express my emotions. A true thrill-seeker. I am envious of ALL S 2000 owners.
I currently own a '93 MR2 Turbo and although I have more low end torque, I feel this car will whoop my ass after a few short seconds. The "lack of torque" ,as some reviewers frequently make comment to, was noticeable when climbing hills. One you drop it to 4th and hammer the pedal, there is not too many cars that will catch you.
VTEC... I am speechless. I cannot describe this feeling. To couple VTEC with a turbo?? This is what dreams are made of.
I did not think there was a car that could get me out of my Mister2.......

I feel lucky every day when I walk out into the garage! The thrill is NOT gone. Taking it out yesterday stirred me up as much as the first time. And after battling a snowy driveway to get it back in the garage, you should have seen me lying on the cold, wet, muddy concrete, washing the undercarriage spotless.
Prepare to be obsessed!

After reading my original review, I realised that I did not express my true feelings to their full extent. It was sort of like love at first sight. Maybe not quite that strong, but I didn't know what to expect, and really enjoyed every moment of the short test drive. I was amazed at the amount of attention the car attracts. Overall, I was really impressed. The Honda engineers that designed this car had motor oil coursing through their veins. I would have paid money to help them design the car. It truly is an exceptional automobile. I can understand why it elicits such passion in its owners.
