What was Acura thinking???
Let me get this stright, it's cheaper to make a car by hand than it is to use machines? I have no source to argue with or support this comment. So I better not say anything and get flammed... I'll let someone else handle that comment.
Given that the TL & CL are Accord=platform based vehicles, I am sure the newest Accord will spawn new and better CL's and TL's. One thing to keep in mind though, the TL & CL market is much more conservative overall than our bunch of auto enthusiasts, I mean, how many stock TL's do you see before seeing a sported out one?
As for hand building vs assembly line costs, it IS cheaper per vehicle to build a small run by hand as opposed to machine building because the initial tooling and set up costs are phenomenal. Those costs are amortized into the full run each year and for the entire run of a particular model in order to acheive these cost efficiencies. The NSX is hand built b/c of the low numbers built, but this does not mean its cheap to build by hand, just the less expensive alternative to setting up an entire assembly line to build very few cars.
I think the NSX sells for $90k b/c the market allows it to, not because its truly worth that. I think Honda builds the car for the sake of having a "super car" but prices it at a point that they dont have to deal with those of us who care about its cost (i guess if you gotta ask...)

exactly. it is "cheaper" it isn't cheap. Nothing is cheap when it comes to manufacturing.
The point was people always get all teary eyed talking about how badassed the NSX is and how it costs so much because it is hand-made blah blah blah. There is nothing special about assembling a car by hand. It is usually done when you just can seem to sell enough of a car to afford a fully automated line. Porsche used to do this with 911's, but they have gone more mechanized since they are selling so many and making sooo much money.
I tend to look at the discussion of the NSX from a different angle. Instead of saying they are selling it for 90k because people will pay it. I prefer to say they are only selling a few hundred a year because it is overpriced and peope won't pay it. I feel that is much more accurate.

The Dualnote concept car with a 300 HP V6 and 100 HP worth of electric motors is interesting. Certainly should add an abundant amount of low end power, efficiently.
Of course, the idea of a 120 HP/liter 4 liter engine would also be very Honda-like. 480 HP, 306 ft/lbs would be a very appealing motivator for a Honda sports/GT car.
There are some very wonderful sounding solid state amplifiers. The quality of some Onkyos, Sonys, Denons, etc. are terrific. But the sound quality the better (not necessarily more expensive!) tube amplifiers is awesome. For $750 new or $500 used, you can get an Antique Sound Labs MG S1 15DT 5 watt per channel in single end triode mode. This is an incredible music maker.
There are others in the $1000 - $6,000 range which will knock your socks off!

You can't just solely look at horsepower. There a lot of other considerations involved. Sure it doesn't have the horses to match up to a z06 or a viper, but the car is extremely well built. Expect it to gain I-Vtec REAL soon.
:
Basically, you gotta be a REAL car enthusiest to appriciate the design and quality of the NSX. You just gotta get behind the wheel of one before you can REALLY make a solid and accurate opinion of the car. *Acura won't let me touch it....i guess i look too young/scrubby*
The NSX is a really great car...i wouldn't be too quick to diss it.
