I just installed a Neuspeed front bar...one pc construction, no moving parts or joints, very good fitment, I do have a bit of a rattling issue with my AEM V2 intake though. Overall I am very happy with it!

 

A strut is nearly a strut. I doubt you'll notice much difference in any of them.
Main points to consider: Weight, aethetics, fitment. By fitment I mean some wont fit over certain intake setups. Some Titanium ones are lighter and technically stronger than aluminum. CF wrapped ones look cool... They all do the same thing in the same way!

 

on a similar note, has anyone actually noticed any improvement with any strut bars?

what are some easy ways to improve handling other than changing to a stickier tire? x-brace maybe?

 

Shocks/Springs (or coilovers), Sways, Xbrace, Tie bars, 3 pc chassis reinforcement, etc... All do a little. Add them up and you have significant improvement.
