I'm pretty sure it's for a dealer installed alarm system.

I have one on mine as well, but never purchased the dealer's alarm, just stuck with the factory installed.

I'm sure if you traced the wiring, you'll find it connected to the same stuff a normal alarm would be.

its for programming an aftermarket alarm. if you dont have an alarm than you just have everything but the brain.

Seeing the year of your car it's def some aftermarket piece. MY00 and some MY01's have a button in the same area to arm and disarm the alarm. Shows of primitive the AP1's were vs newer models.

it's the bonner detector.
unless previous owner disconnected the wires, it beeps when pressed.
