What is this Car worth?
Hi all, an old lady in my town found out through word of mouth I am looking for another S2000 (perks of a small town). I’m wondering what you guys think the fair value of the car is, it is a Red exterior, black interior, year 2000 AP1, bone stock with 38k miles on it. She is the third owner, has owned it the last 15 years. She said the last 3 summers she has put a total of 250 miles on it, then it sits on a trickle charger all winter, only selling because “her hip hurts when she gets in and out now”. No rust, pure stock, looks pretty much mint. Clean title, no accidents. It has a mileage misreport on it, but she is correcting it with the DMV now. Wondering what you guys think a fair value for the car is. Thank you!

Here is some information that might help you determine the value of the car, just follow the link and scroll down to the cars that sold and do a comparison. Good luck.

Assuming she can’t get the mileage corrected on the title, and it reads 207,000 miles as opposed to 20,700 miles, do you think this would significantly decrease the value of the car despite the car being in very good condition?
Jane,
For me, there would have to be a ton of research on this one.
1. If the mileage is incorrect, why can they not get it changed?
2. If they couldn’t, I would offer a price on a 207k mile car.
3. Pull a CARFAX for what is is worth, as everything will not be on it.
4. Use various websites to get a benchmark price. Do some research online.
5. What state is it in and what states had it been owned in.
6. Put it on a lift.
7. Check the trunk for leaks by pulling up the liner on each side and in the middle at least.
8.. Check for all 10 VIN stickers.
These are ajust a few things I would look at. When making this type of inquiry without giving away the location of the car, you can not give enough details.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Given the overall condition of the car I would be to be honest. I just don’t see any possible way this was driven 200,000+ miles. I guess it has that going for it, assuming I maintain its current condition I can try to convince a future buyer of the real mileage. She has documentation from oil changes/service calls on it all with the mileage reported so that should help as well
I'd say about $17k. A yellow 2002 AP1 near me sat for quite some time at $16,000 and it had 54,000 miles. 38k miles is low but it's not so low that the price is going to skyrocket because of it.
I also don't see the issue with the misprint if it's something like:
Record 1 - Oil change 17,000 miles
Record 2 - Oil change 207,000 miles
Assuming these are within a year or two of each other.
