The biggest drawback of the S is what it will turn you into. You will be neurotic. You will park in the farthest spot in the lot so that no idiot will park next to you and ding the car. You will park with the front to the curb so that no one can back into you. You will hate rain, hail, snow and etc.

You will carry a rag in your pocket so that when you get gas you can wipe the drips.

You will get up early on Sunday morning to wash and wax it, even if it hasn't been out of the garage all week.

You will have a hard time focusing on anything else. You will finally realize how little free time you have to enjoy your life. You will wonder why you have to work all of those hours when you could be driving your S. You will finally realize that there is more to life then just work.

If you're lucky like I am, your sons and daughters will love it too and the S will bring you closer to them.

All in all, the drawbacks aren't so bad!!!!! Sort of sounds like the perfect car.

Ralper,

All excellent points. Don't forget... any free time you still have will be consumed by s2ki.com

Pick up the latest Car and Driver, read the article, then test drive the car. You probably won't care about any of the bad points that they talked about, we don't.

I love this car, there isn't much that Honda could change but if you want an honest opinion here goes:

1) Stronger clutch is #1 on my list at the moment. Several owners are replacing clutches almost as fast as tires. I know those people may be hard on the car but come on, even an abused clutch should last longer than 10k miles.

2) I wish the remote stereo controls had more functionality.

3) I'd like the interior to have power after I turn off the car and until I open my door. (Like my Prelude) Seems like a simple thing to do.

4) You shouldn't have to reach across the cabin to unlock the passenger side door while then engine is running.

5) I'd like to see the ring around the igition light up so it can be found when it's dark out. (Again, like my Prelude)

6) From what I've seen on this board, Honda customer service could be better. (This mostly relates to item #1).

7) Wish the tires lasted longer, but that's a function of driving style and the awesome Bridgestone S02 tires.

With the exception of what I've been reading about the clutch, the other items are VERY minor rants. Only time will tell if Honda will be addressing any of the above issues.

Also, the guys that drive LS1s like to pick on us.
Even though we don't like to compare our cars to theirs.

i am going to test drive the car some time this week, i was just concerned about the gear grinds, the cv joints, but i guess that will all be covered by warrenty, and by the time the warrenty is up, they will have much more effecient parts, thanks to all that helped me out.
i have another question, is there a hardtop available, if so then how much is it? i am thinking of a white s2k, i will tell you how the test drive went.

I can vouch for that.

But I'm working on it!

This board has been around for over two years. Try using the search function to answer some of your basic questions like whether it has a hardtop available. It does and if you search I'm sure you'll find tons of threads with pictures and everything else. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your test drive, but keep in mind the most fun is between 6000 and 9000 RPM's.

1. burns DEEP DEEP HOLES in my pockets
2. makes me wake up early to drive to work
3. makes me smile too much everytime i see it
4. makes me worry too much when i'm away from it
5. makes every other car look inferior....with a few exceptions

um....i wish we had auto dimming mirrors and blue tinted side views...auto lock for both doors....just to stay with the topic
