What is the crush washer for?

I've had nothing but honda cars since I started driving 12 years ago. The same goes for my wife. Ive done all of our oil changes and have never replaced the crush washer. Not a single drop of oil on the garage floor yet and the oil drain bolt is always very tight.

I always change when ever I do an oil change. But it just weird that I have to replace it and the dealer didn't know why.

Never reuse them. The crush washer is a $.19 part - for your S2000's sake! Use a new one. You bought a S2000, you can definitely afford a $.19 washer

As I put crush washers on my oil plug, I never saw one originaly in there. First oil change and there was no washer .... is this normal for japan builds ?

There should definitely be ONE crush washer installed from the factory.
