Thumbs up What is the deal with the Spoon reservoir covers?

Just wondering what the deal is with those sweat band Spoon reservoir cover things. I mean they are really horrible looking. Are they to keep anything from spilling out or what? I've seen a few cars with them all over the engine bay. Are they supposed to make it look good or something? Just don't quite get it. Never seen those on any other car before.

I've always wondered. Apparently one of the reasons is that it will protect from spilling. Other than that, I have no idea except dress-up/ricier effect. Maybe someone can enlighten me how much hp it adds

Yeah I don't know. I have not had even a drop spill out from any reservoirs. If it is for bling. Then just wow. I think they looks just absolutely horrible so was really hoping there is a benefit to having them.

The little colored sock like covers emblazoned with manufacturers (Spoon, etc) names. Yet another waste of money item.

I agree...I'm gonna ditch mine. It's also a dust magnet. One of my many "buy it now" Ebay mistakes.

putting a sweat band around your brake resevoir helps prevent your brake fluid from evaporating. Under extreme temperature the brake fluid will evaporate and stick to the top of the resevoir cap. Also helps engine heat from heating the brake fluid. a majority of people that have them have no clue what they are used for.

plus on top of that, depending on the brand on them you can get an extra 20 horsepower. Lol, na, they seem to be mostly for show, but they do serve their purpose. Never heard of what litre-eater said, but they do soak up fluid that leaks.

They are good for obscuring your fluid levels which makes it easier to not notice you have a brake fluid leak somewhere in your system.

Everybody knows that not having brakes makes your car go faster by default.
