What to do with stone chips on the windshield?
I was driving on the highway today and remembered distinctly being hit with stonechips. What do you know, cleaned my car after and noticed two very small chips in the front windshield.
Ok, I know this honda has the most upright windshield (for roll-over protection) but I would have excepted the windshield to be a little stronger...what is going on?
I have never had windshield sone chips before. Should I just leave it? They are very small and will probably not lead to cracks.

Get a new windshield. I just had a small rock make a small crack in my windshield the other week. If you have a $100 deductible of comprehensive on your insurance, most auto glass places will replace the windshield for free (as in they cover your deductible). Also, since it is comprehensive coverage, a claim here does not effect insurance rates. They came to my work and replaced the windshield with a nice clean new one. Pretty much as simple as that.
I have the same experience. Got my first chip a few days after I picked up the car, then the second chip a few weeks after, the chips are very very small(about the size of sand). I think the windshield is definitely not as strong as other hondas, so I'm not gonna replace it, in case I get a few more chips.
My car has two weeks and I have exactly the same problem. Yesterday after cleaning and washing it I discover many, many tiny impacts on the windshield.
Is ther any product that cluold repair it, or at least minimize it ?
Too soon two change it, don

I actually had our local honda rep looking at my windshield sometime back in May. He said..."the car sits low, and a new windshield will just do the same thing".
Mine looks like it has been sandblasted now with 13k miles. My hood/bumper is now looking that way too.

I have two rock chips in the windshield both on the passenger side. One is a large 'c' shape the other is about the size of a pinky fingernail. I am planning on waiting until I get one on the drivers side and then have it replaced. I don't think it is the way the glass is made but the angle and how low the windshield is that is the problem.
A minor annoyance for driving a sportscar.

You'll get the same thing in any low sitting car. I've got them on my Preludes and Accords in the past. My old '74 Dart hardly ever picked up stones for two reasons: the front was much higher AND they used to make windshields stronger but stopped because the stronger windshields were more likely to KILL YOU when you went through them.
Sometimes places like "Novus" or "Windshield Doctor" can patch them and make the chips disappear. Sometimes it is not worth it.
Our son's '92 Accord picked up a crack this summer and, while we could have patched it, with 100,000 miles on the Accord we decided to replace it to get rid of the sandblasted effect. Now we can drive into the sunset and still see.
It sounds to me like counting on periodic repainting and periodic new windshields are part of "routine maintenance" if we want to both drive the car and keep it looking like new. Perhaps Xpel or Stongard or a Colgan bra can postpone the repainting, but not prevent it.
I think I'm going to go for the Colgan bra and use it like Reedz does, for major trips. I've had a Honda full bra on the '93 Prelude for eight years and it has helped quite a bit. But that car is dark green so the bra looks okay.
Too bad we can't have our cake and eat it too. But how much fun is owning the car and never driving it?

Two weeks ago I got a small but annoying chip in my windshield, so I got it filled free (they pay my deductible). So far I would rate it a complete success; you can only see a trace if you know where to look and get very close to the surface.
While I was having the chip filled, I had them fill a small (pencil tip size) 'crater' where another rock had hit but not left a chip. What used to be a white mark is now less noticeable.
So if your insurance covers it, I would say give glass repair a try.

Hey all of us will get chips on the windshield. I got several after the first few days of ownership. On way to reduce the chips is to increase the distance between you and the car or truck in front of you. Since I've done this I've had no more chips. Now that I say that something hit me on the freeway this morning and scratched the crap out of the front bumper! Oh well, it's just a car.
