What do you guys think?
I've been looking, everyday, different sites but I was surprised one day to find one locally. I went to go look at it the first day he posted it. From the post it sounded "right on" for what I am looking for: 02 sebring silver, all red interior, one owner, maint records, 73k miles, clean title with no accidents for $11,900 stock, never moded. When I spoke with him he said that a lady did back into his drivers front fender in a parking lot and there was a 2" slash in the soft top but didnt make it sound to crazy. However when I saw it, the mild bump/back into in the drivers front fender looks like it needs a drivers fender, the car has been keyed in 4 places. One on the damaged fender, the passenger front fender, passenger door and drivers rear quarter panel. And the 2" slash in the soft top is more like 5". I drove it and it sounded great/felt great. But back to the outside, it just killed me that it needed this much work. I asked him if he would lowing the price and what that price would be if I "bought it tomorrow". He went down to $10,500. And that is where I am stuck. I called him later and offered him 10K tomorrow (not to low ball but I think I would at least have to drop about $1,700 + into it just to buy a oem fender/paint it, fix and respray the keying and buy a soft top.
But I ask........What do you guys think? Should I get it for $10,500 or keep with my wits and hold down my offer for 10k or keep looking for one that doesnt need this much work. Thanks

Pass.
I would not from a seller who is not upfront in the initial post. That's a lot of damage for "clean title with no accidents" full stop with no extra details. And not even matching up with the phone call? No go. I'd be worried about just what else was left unsaid.

I'd pass on this one, I know it's tempting and it's close and what you wanted, but it sounds like it needs a lot of work which can really add up....If you wait a while you can probably find one with less miles too. My 01 with similar mileage came with new (glass) top and new paint job and I got it for $10.7
Thank you all for your opinions. Seems like you all agree to pass and who em I to argue. There is another one I am looking at but its a plane trip away. So I will stay on the look out and maybe board Southwest.
Thanks Guys

Yeah, I'd pass on that.
I know looking for a S2K is very hard, and at times you want to buy any S2K that your eyes see, but you GOTTA BE PATIENT. I just bought a S2K
and had to wait a while...passing on cars I didn't get a good feeling about or needed "work."
Just be patient and find a deal that REALLY you feel good about and you KNOW is good....basically you wouldn't need a 2nd opinion.
